Just plain Zoey?

Adorable, right?

That's what I was thinking too...

But little do you know what was going on "behind the scenes" of this little "photo shoot" today.

I'm amazed I got any shots at all!

I'm telling you, this girl is stubborn. Stubborn and very independent.

Does what she wants, when she wants, and will let you know with avengence when it's not done when and where she wants it to be done!

These photos were taken on her terms (as most things are in her life) and she does not take direction. at. all.

The whole plan was to model this cutie patootie dress I made for her yesterday (which by the way is safety pinned and cinched with clothes pins in the back, because it's HUGE!), then venture across the street to a park to play.

But things did not go quite as planned and after several, I mean many, many, meltdowns and attempts to run into the middle of the street, we packed it in and went home.

Terrible two's or just plain Zoey?

I don't know, but I hope this phase is over very soon! (Please or please be a phase!)

It's a good thing she is so darn cute! My patience runs very thin recently.

So, is your two year old giving you a run for your money lately, or is it just me?!?!?!?

  3. OH yes this is my daughter Gracie to a teeee..She is also very independent to the extreme..Not letting me even tie her shoes..Keep in mind she at two does not know how to tie them either. We were potty training for two weeks , she was well on her way, then suddenly decided NOPE not gonna potty no more. Im telling you this child is also very strong willed. Yes I too have not had alot of patience lately either. LOL. Guess we have to sit back and laugh about it too right.

  4. Kelly, Marcie and Tina, while I so feel for you, I am actually quite relieved to hear I am not the only one! I was beginning to think I was crazy! I definitely had a lot of these 'traits' as a toddler (ok, and maybe even throughout my life too!) and totally thought it was a healthy dose of karma! I guess we all just wait it out and push through it! And we'll do it together!!

  5. Well my oldest was the same way when she was two, my son as well. Cameras were just not a favorite. But you have seen my 5 year old model in action now on my blog. She takes direction like a pro, and honestly is just so good at being a model now that she comes up with her own ideas for shots that end up being the shots I use the most. She LOVES the one on one attention she gets when she models things for me now, and her younger brother who would never look at the camera and smile, now ham's it up so he can get in on the action too!
    Adorable dress by the way!

  7. We are right there with you, Kim. Same thing going on at our house, it does get better...then it gets bad again...then it gets better...hoepfully the better will outnumber the terrible more often than not :)

  8. OH MY GOODNESS!! I too thought it was just me dealing with a stubborn and independent little cutie who wants her way when she wants it (though she can't always perfectly verbalize what she wants which adds to the frustration) THANKS for sharing; let's wallow together in this stubborn phase and pray for the next phase to roll around quickly (well, as long as it isn't an even more stubborn phase!)

  9. I have a very stubborn (and camera-jaded) child as well. Every once in a while she decides to pose for me. It's a pleasant surprise when it happens!

  10. She's stubborn, but beautiful! With two kids 18 months apart (the oldest arriving at 20 months old), and doing nursery for 2 year olds in church... I feel like the house of perpetual 2s. EEK! :)

  11. Oh Kim...you are sooo not the only one. Noah can be such an angel and then turn right around and be the most difficult little turd around. :) His thing the past few months has been insisting to throw himself on the ground in the middle of a parking lot because he doesn't want to hold my hand anymore. That is of course just one example of him trying to be Littel Mr. Independent. And I hear ya on the patience. It is really hard to have any some days. And yes...good thing they are so darn cute!
